Insurance Claims

Insurance claim repair in Canoga Park should not be a second job for you after the accident. At Accent Collision, we have been handling insurance work for San Fernando Valley drivers since 1994, and the process at our shop is built so you spend the minimum time talking to adjusters, ferrying paperwork, and waiting on phone trees. We do the talking. You drive the rental.

Carriers We Work With Directly

We are an established work with every major insurance carrier serving Southern California, including State Farm, Geico, Mercury, Allstate, Farmers, AAA, USAA, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, Progressive, Travelers, Wawanesa, and most regional carriers. Carriers know our estimates, trust our supplements, and pay quickly because we follow industry-standard repair procedures. That translates directly into less time between intake and delivery for you.

What the Process Looks Like at Our Shop

  1. File your claim with your carrier first. Get a claim number and the assigned adjuster’s contact information. We need both at intake.
  2. Bring the car to us. We photograph the damage, write the initial estimate, and send it directly to your adjuster — usually within 24 hours of intake.
  3. We handle approval and supplements. If we uncover additional damage during disassembly, we submit the supplement directly to your adjuster. You do not need to coordinate that conversation.
  4. Rental coordination. If your policy includes rental coverage (loss of use), we arrange pickup with Enterprise or Hertz locations on Topanga Canyon Boulevard. If your policy does not include rental, we can advise you on lowest-cost options nearby.
  5. Repair and updates. We text photo updates throughout the repair so you can see progress without calling.
  6. Delivery and paperwork. When the car is ready, you sign one set of documents at our counter — the rest of the paperwork has already been settled with your insurance company.

Your Rights as a California Driver

California law guarantees you the right to choose any licensed collision repair facility, regardless of what your insurance company recommends. Some carriers maintain preferred shop networks — that is a convenience, not a requirement. You can bring the car to Accent Collision and your policy benefits stay the same, including rental, towing if covered, and direct payment to the shop.

You also have the right to OEM parts on safety-critical components such as airbag systems, restraint sensors, structural reinforcements, and crash-rated bumpers. If your policy permits aftermarket parts on those components, we will discuss the implications with you before we order anything.

Deductibles and Out-of-Pocket Costs

Your deductible is whatever your policy specifies — typically $500 or $1,000 for collision coverage, $250-1,000 for comprehensive. You pay it once per claim, directly to the shop on delivery. The insurance company pays the rest, less any depreciation specified in your policy. We do not negotiate or waive deductibles; that is fraud, and any shop offering to do so is a red flag.

Service Area

We handle insurance work for drivers across the West Valley: Woodland Hills, West Hills, Tarzana, Reseda, Canoga Park, Winnetka, Northridge, Chatsworth, and surrounding neighborhoods. If your accident happened farther out — Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Sherman Oaks — we still happily handle the claim.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will using your shop affect my insurance premiums?

No. Your choice of shop has no effect on your premium. What affects premium is the claim itself — at-fault accidents may increase premiums on renewal regardless of where the car was repaired.

What if my insurance company’s estimate is lower than yours?

This happens occasionally, and we handle it directly with the adjuster. We document the parts, labor times, and repair operations involved, and the carrier issues a supplement if they agree. If they do not agree, we have an established process for escalation — including independent appraisal if it comes to that. You do not need to be involved in those conversations.

Do I need to get multiple estimates before choosing a shop?

Not anymore. California eliminated the multiple-estimate requirement years ago. You can bring the car directly to the shop you want, and your insurance company will work with that shop’s estimate.

A Note on Timelines

We cannot provide an exact completion date for any vehicle. Repair timing depends on parts availability, the complexity of the damage uncovered during teardown, and the time your insurance carrier takes to respond to supplement requests. We give you an honest estimate up front, update you when anything changes, and push every repair as fast as we can without compromising quality.

Frequently asked questions

Which insurance carriers do you work with?

We accept claims from every major carrier serving Southern California — State Farm, GEICO, Mercury, Allstate, Farmers, AAA, USAA, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, Progressive, Travelers, Wawanesa, and most regional carriers.

Do I have to use my insurance company’s preferred shop?

No. California gives you the right to choose any licensed body shop. Your insurer must work with the shop you select. See our blog post on the California right-to-choose for the full breakdown.

What if my insurer’s estimate is lower than yours?

Common and resolvable. Most repairs require supplements once teardown reveals additional damage. We document the additional work with photos and OEM repair procedure citations, then negotiate the supplement with your adjuster directly.

How does the rental car work?

If your policy includes rental coverage, we coordinate the rental directly with your carrier and the rental company — you typically only need to show ID and a credit card for the deposit. We notify the rental company when your vehicle is ready for pickup.
