Dent and bumper repair in Canoga Park covers the most common kind of body damage we see at Accent Collision: door dings, shopping cart hits, low-speed bumper taps, hail dimples, and the occasional larger crease from backing into a pole or post. Most of this work does not require full collision repair — and it should not cost like it does either. We have been handling dent and bumper jobs in the San Fernando Valley since 1994, with two distinct service paths depending on the damage.

Paintless Dent Repair (PDR)
When a dent has no broken paint, no creased metal, and is accessible from the back side of the panel, paintless dent repair is almost always the right call. PDR preserves the original factory finish, completes in a few hours instead of days, and costs a fraction of conventional bodywork. Our PDR technicians use stainless steel rods, glue-pull tabs, and PDR lights to massage the metal back to its original shape from behind — no filler, no paint, no blend.
PDR is ideal for: shopping cart impacts, hail damage, door dings, minor crease dents on hoods and trunks, and most low-speed parking-lot incidents. It is not ideal when the paint is broken, when the metal has stretched past its memory, or when the dent is in an inaccessible area like a doubled-up rocker panel.
Conventional Dent Repair
When PDR is not the right tool, we go conventional: pull the dent with stud welders or a slide hammer if needed, work the metal flat, apply a thin coat of body filler only where the surface needs it, sand to spec, and refinish using the same factory-matched paint process we use on full collision work. This path also covers panels with broken paint, deeper creases, or damage that bridges multiple body lines.
Bumper Repair and Replacement
Modern bumper covers are flexible plastic, not painted steel, so repair techniques are different. Scuffs and shallow gouges can usually be sanded, filled with flexible plastic repair compound, primed, and refinished. Cracks that go through the substrate, broken mounting tabs, or damage that affects parking sensors and crash structure typically require bumper cover replacement. Most newer vehicles also have sensors — parking aid, blind spot, lane departure cameras — that need to be recalibrated after the bumper is reinstalled, and we handle that in-house.
Service Areas
We see most of our dent repair customers from within a five-mile radius of the shop: Woodland Hills, West Hills, Tarzana, Reseda, Winnetka, Northridge, and Canoga Park. Drop the car off in the morning, head over to Westfield Topanga or grab coffee on Ventura Boulevard, and most PDR jobs are ready by mid-afternoon.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my insurance cover a single door ding?
Usually it is not worth it. Most door dings cost less to repair out of pocket than the comprehensive deductible, and filing a small claim can affect your premiums. We can give you an honest estimate before you decide. Hail damage and larger comprehensive claims are different — those typically run well above deductible levels and are worth filing.
How much does paintless dent repair cost?
Single door dings typically run $100-200 depending on size and location. Hail damage is priced by panel count, usually $75-150 per panel. Larger or more complex PDR work — deep creases, body line damage, harder-to-access locations — quotes individually. We give estimates at the counter while you wait.
Is PDR really better than conventional repair?
When the paint is intact and the metal is accessible, yes — PDR preserves the original factory finish, which is more durable and corrosion-resistant than any refinish job. When the paint is broken or the metal has been stretched, conventional repair with proper refinishing is the correct method. A good shop will be honest about which path your specific dent needs.

Frequently asked questions
Can paintless dent repair fix any dent?
PDR works best on small to medium dents where the paint surface is intact (no creasing or paint cracking). Hail damage, parking-lot dings, and minor crease dents are good candidates. Deeper dents or anything with paint damage requires conventional refinishing.
How much does dent repair cost?
PDR typically runs $75–$300 per dent depending on size, location, and access. Conventional repair (with paint) starts around $400 per panel. We give you a written estimate before any work starts.
Will dent repair show up on a Carfax report?
Insurance-paid claims show on Carfax. Cash repairs do not. PDR is generally not reported because no panels are replaced.
